PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
Welcome! Please feel free to Download our 2009 Institute Brochure. The Commonwealth Leadership Institute is looking for students who sense within themselves the potential to contribute to their schools and communities in meaningful and positive ways. Through thoughtful, transformative, and service oriented leadership, students who participate in the Institute will return to their communities equipped with the confidence, desire, and ability to positively impact and inspire others. Admission to the Institute
Application Submission Deadline:
EXTENDED: March 2 , 2009 |
Students who meet the following criteria may apply:
- Current Junior in High School (Class of 2010)
- A/B grade average in a college preparatory program
- Actively involved in student council and/or other activities, such as clubs, community organizations, or athletics; preferably in a leadership role in at least one of these.
- Proposes a leadership project for her/his senior year that is endorsed by the principal (see application for details)

Application and Nomination Process |
- Interested students must complete the application and submit it to their principal.
- Principals then nominate students meeting the criteria of the Institute, who would represent their school well, and whose leadership project they support. The application and nomination form are then submitted by the principal to VASSP.

Selection of Students |
A selection committee comprised of high school principals and CNU faculty will review all nomination forms and select the 2009 participants.
Acceptance letters will be mailed on March 20 , 2009, and a Student Registration Form with deposit will be due by April 17th. |
